FAQ
Can I use any label material with XAR-class ink ribbons?
You can use this ink ribbon with many of our thermal-transfer labels, though we recommend this ink ribbon for labels that require resistance to harsh chemicals and solvents like xylene and MEK.
What type of ink is on these ink ribbons?
XAR-class ink ribbons are made of resin, which provides great resistance to temperature extremes and excellent protection against chemicals and solvents as compared to other types of ink ribbons.
What type of resistance do XAR-class ink ribbons confer?
This ink ribbon confers resistance to a variety of harsh chemicals and solvents, such as xylene, toluene, acetone, and alcohols and is especially suitable for histology applications when using or XyliTUFF™ and XyliFIL™ thermal-transfer labels.
Are XAR-class ink ribbons recommended for chemical-resistant applications like histology?
Yes, as these ribbons confer resistance to various chemical and solvents, particularly xylene, they are well suited for use in chemical-resistant applications like histology when printing on XyliTUFF™ and XyliFIL™ thermal-transfer labels.
What does coated-inside or coated-outside refer to?
Thermal-transfer ribbons can have the ink coated on either side. Coated-inside or coated-outside refers to the side of the ribbon that the ink sits on.
How can I quickly tell which side of the ink ribbon contains the ink?
The quickest way to tell which side is coated is by unwinding the ink ribbon. One side will be shiny and one side has a more matte finish. The duller side is the side with the ink.
Is a take-up core included with this ink ribbon purchase?
Typically, a take-up core is not included with XAR ink ribbons.
Is this ink ribbon available in different colors?
No, XAR-class ink ribbons are only offered in black.
